Sammie Ophelia (she/her) is a 2025 graduate of the University of Arizona with a BFA in Musical Theatre. She grew up in Tucson, Arizona after moving there from Connecticut at the age of two.

Classic musical theatre films like Oklahoma!, The Sound of Music, West Side Story, and My Fair Lady were constant fixtures in her childhood. It was only natural that she would bring down the house in her first grade talent show, singing Eliza Doolittle’s “Just You Wait”. The course was set from there.

From that point on, Sammie auditioned for every school and community theatre production she could. Her first musical was Annie, performed on the same stage that she would walk across for her college graduation sixteen years later. Through these years, she discovered that collaboration and community are at the heart of what she loves most about theatre.

After her first year of college on the East Coast, Sammie returned to Arizona during COVID and was thrilled to be accepted into the University of Arizona’s Musical Theatre program. At the U of A she performed in numerous productions and made her professional debut with Arizona Theatre Company.
